5 Things to Keep in Mind When Selecting Clothes for a Headshot Session
Portrait sessions can be a lot of fun and they provide a great opportunity to dress up. Knowing what you look good in is key, and all of our clients meet with a stylist before their sessions. But here are some things to keep in mind when making your selections.
1. Wear something that makes you feel confident
How you feel will translate on camera. Bring out for favorite blazer, dress, or top.
2. Choose clothes that are flattering to your body type and skin tone
We don’t want you hiding behind clothes. Make sure things fit properly and the colors flatter you and your business.
3. Don't wear anything with too many patterns or colors, it may not translate well on camera
Lots of patterns can be distracting for headshots. Stick to little to no prints. It can be done, but the more we get the harder it is to pull off.
4. Choose outfits with a variety of textures to showcase the range of clothing available to us
Now texture is different. I love a monochromatic look with various textures. So a wool dress and leather belt, or a jean with a blazer. Lots of options in textures.
5. Keep an eye out for seasonal trends when picking out clothes - if it's wintertime, don't wear summer clothes!
This one can be sneaky. We want these to work for you all year. So let’s make sure we pick pieces that don’t speak to any one season. Unless of course, you are coming back to see me in a few months.
Here are the top 5 things I would keep in mind when picking clothes for a headshot session.
