Retouching the Eyes
You may notice in our portraits that the irises are often lightened. Ever since I was a little girl, I would draw eyes. I was fascinated with eye makeup, lashes, and the striking eyes in all the magazines. My undiagnosed ADD had me drawing thousands of eyes as my teachers lectured. I even envisioned having a pair tattooed on my, long before it actually became a thing. So when I am shooting and editing portraits, I am drawn to the eyes and really want to reflect their hypnotic power in my images. I found that just a slight shadow lift in the light pools of the iris do the trick. Such a subtle way for me to put a little more of myself in my artwork. My clients and their friends always comment on the striking eyes and that tells me I am delivering something that speaks to me and you.
